Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask before booking. If yours isn't here, call888.515.4555.

How often does my system need service?

Twice a year for most systems. On our maintenance program the two annual visits are scheduled around each unit's condition and environment rather than a fixed date, which gets more out of each visit. If you're not on the program, twice a year is still the right cadence.

What happens during a maintenance visit?

Our crew does a thorough examination of the units — freon levels, belt, compressor, motor and anything else that determines whether the machine runs well. The goal is preventing failures outright, or catching small problems before they turn into serious damage.

Do you clean air ducts?

No — duct cleaning isn't a service we offer. Cleaning the unit itself is part of a maintenance visit: we service the coils and components so the system runs at the efficiency it's supposed to.

Do you service indoor or outdoor units?

Both. Indoor units directly affect the air in your building and should be serviced at least every year or two. Outdoor condensers have to be maintained to hold efficiency, which is what keeps utility costs down and extends the life of the unit.

Do you install new units?

Yes. We install new systems for homes and commercial properties, and because we run the maintenance side too, we specify and install with servicing in mind. The same company that puts it in is the one that keeps it running afterward.

How is Whistle different from other HVAC companies?

Most companies install a system and move on, so nobody is accountable when it starts failing three years later. We run maintenance as the core of the business, which means we stay on the unit for its whole life — and when we do install one, we're the people who'll be servicing it.

What does the maintenance program cover?

Two scheduled services a year including a full inspection and servicing of the unit, with priority on anything that comes up in between. It's the option for people who'd rather set it and forget it than think about their HVAC.

Do you handle multiple buildings?

Yes. Portfolio and multi-building contracts are a large part of what we do, with scheduling coordinated across properties and a single point of contact.
